Cobre's expanded offering of wall art features beautifully reproduced images of Gustave Baumann woodcuts. Gustave Baumann (1881-1971) created color woodcut prints of American rural landscapes. Baumann was active in the era before photo-reproduction replaced wood engraving. He was active in the Chicago and Indiana countryside until he took a trip to Taos, NM......which then became home. He lived in Santa Fe area for more than 50 years and carved into wood southwestern landscapes and spring and summer gardens and orchards. His prints are awash in brilliant, hand-ground pigments. About our frames: Dard Hunter Studios makes our Oak Park frames that are beautifully hand-finished in quarter sawn white oak . Prints are matted and backed with archival materials.

Albert Berry (1880-1949) immigrated from England at a young age and studied at the Rhode Island School of Design. After years of work in design he moved to Alaska and worked as a miner. The natural beauty of Alaska and the Pacific Northwest fascinated him. His work was heavily influenced by Alaskan and Northwest motifs which made his Arts and Crafts copperwork unique.

We made this hand hammered copper tray in 2014 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Cobre Copper. It was inspired by an Arts & Crafts tray we saw several years before and artist Anselmo Miranda did a beautiful rendition. Be sure to click the additional image detail to see the intricate blending of the step-beveled rim leading to the repousse flower border and hand cut handles - truly an heirloom piece.
