This hand hammered copper plaque features the famous "seed pod" design which was originally created by the Gustav Stickley (1858-1942) workshop. Stickley was recognized as an originator of American Craftsman style design. Famous for his quarter-sawn oak furniture, Stickley was also known for his metalwork designs. We made this hand hammered copper tray in 2014 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Cobre Copper. It was inspired by an Arts & Crafts tray we saw several years before and artist Anselmo Miranda did a beautiful rendition. Be sure to click the additional image detail to see the intricate blending of the step-beveled rim leading to the repousse flower border and hand cut handles - truly an heirloom piece.

Cobre's expanded offering of wall art features beautifully reproduced images of Gustave Baumann woodcuts. Gustave Baumann (1881-1971) created color woodcut prints of American rural landscapes. Baumann was active in the era before photo-reproduction replaced wood engraving. He was active in the Chicago and Indiana countryside until he took a trip to Taos, NM.....which then became home. He lived in Santa Fe area for more than 50 years and carved into wood southwestern landscapes and spring and summer gardens and orchards. His prints are awash in brilliant, hand-ground pigments. About our frames: Dard Hunter Studios makes our Oak Park frames that are beautifully hand-finished in quarter sawn white oak . Prints are matted and backed with archival materials. We first saw this bowl in the dining room at the famous Greene and Green Gamble Home Museum in Pasadena, California in the mid-1990's. Scotsman Robert Jarvie (1865-1941) was an active artist and designer during the early 20th century Arts and Crafts movement. He created this design between 1905-1912 in his Chicago Illinois workshop. Anselmo has beautifully articulated the leaf in repousse' and contrasted the leaf's smooth surface with a heavily textured background. Don't delay, we have just 5 sets!

This hammered copper box was inspired by a beautifully enameled copper box attributed to metalsmith Eva Macomber circa 1907. Macomber was an active member of The Society of Arts and Crafts of Boston established in 1897 - America's oldest arts and crafts nonprofit organization still open to this day! Just TWO left!

Coppersmith Anselmo Miranda has beautifully crafted this hammered copper tray which features radial hammering. The tray was originally created by the Dirk van Erp workshop, circa 1922-1926. (August Tiesselinck, A Lifetime in Metal 1890-1972, Isak Lindenauer). A hammered bevel separates the floor of the tray from the edge. Anselmo's meticulous craftsmanship is on full display with copper rivets connecting the handles to the tray, radial hammering throughout and the soft bevel. Don't delay - we have just one!
