  • In 1996 I had the good fortune of a return visit to the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. I was eager to visit the Mixtec ruins of Mitla, 30 miles east of the capital. The site is at least 1,000 years old and is filled with carefully cut stone with indigenous patterns. One of those designs was the inspiration for this beautiful platter, crafted by Master Coppersmith, Anselmo Miranda.

  • Cobre's expanded offering of wall art features beautifully reproduced images of Gustave Baumann woodcuts. Gustave Baumann (1881-1971) created color woodcut prints of American rural landscapes. Baumann was active in the era before photo-reproduction replaced wood engraving. He was active in the Chicago and Indiana countryside until he took a trip to Taos, NM.....which then became home. He lived in the Santa Fe area for more than 50 years and carved into wood southwestern landscapes and spring and summer gardens and orchards. His prints are awash in brilliant, hand-ground pigments. About our frames: Dard Hunter Studios makes our Oak Park frames that are beautifully hand-finished in quarter sawn white oak . Prints are matted and backed with archival materials.
