Gustave Baumann (1881-1971) spent many years living and working in Chicago and the Indiana countryside but a visit to New Mexico in 1918 turned into a lifetime. Southwestern colors, light and landscape had a profound effect on him that are captured in this late summer scene "Summer Clouds".

After moving to the Southwest in 1918, Gustave Baumann (1881-1971) purchased a Chevrolet car in 1920 that allowed him to explore the Southwest and eventualy the Pacific Coast. Baumann loved the Sequoia National Forest and the redwoods near San Francisco which inspired this print "Singing Trees".
