This hand-hammered copper plaque, with an abstracted leaf design, was originally created in the early 20th century by August Tiesselinck, nephew of the famous San Francisco Bay area metalsmith, Dirk van Erp.

This hand hammered copper plaque features the famous "seed pod" design which was originally created by the Gustav Stickley (1858-1942) workshop. Stickley was recognized as an originator of American Craftsman style design. Famous for his quarter-sawn oak furniture, Stickley was also known for his metalwork designs. We made this hand hammered copper tray in 2014 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Cobre Copper. It was inspired by an Arts & Crafts tray we saw several years before and artist Anselmo Miranda did a beautiful rendition. Be sure to click the additional image detail to see the intricate blending of the step-beveled rim leading to the repousse flower border and hand cut handles - truly an heirloom piece.
