The “diamonte” (diamond) motif has been a favorite design for generations of coppersmiths in Santa Clara del Cobre. Historically the diamond has been a symbol of strength and invulnerability.

Master Coppersmith Antonio Ziranda has created a diamond pattern on this vase using respousse’, a technique dating to ancient Mesopotamia.

Antonio begins from inside the vase, using hammers and other handmade tools to “push” the diamond design out.
