Gustave Baumann (1881-1971) spent many years living and working in Chicago and the Indiana countryside but a visit to New Mexico in 1918 turned into a lifetime. Southwestern colors, light and landscape had a profound effect on him that are captured in this late summer scene “Summer Clouds”.
