The Roycroft Metal Shop in East Aurora NY went into full commercial production in 1910. Elbert Hubbard’s upbeat marketing combined with the beauty and design of the handcrafted objects that were produced in the shop made them extremely popular at the time. This design is attributed to Karl Kipp who was influenced by his friend Dard Hunter. Hunter adopted the clean lines and geometric stylization work of the Wiener Werkstatte (Vienna Workshop 1903-1932) during his two-year visit to Austria.* Anselmo Miranda has beautifully recreated this tray with crisp lines and square cutouts.
