The Keswick School of Industrial Art was active during the latter part of 19th century England and the school's work was highly regarded. The original version of this plaque was a massive 24" wide. We've scaled it down to 12" to accommodate today's living spaces. Coppersmith Anselmo Miranda has masterfully created an interpretation of the original plaque including intricate repousse flowers. A rich heat patina gives the plaque a warm glow, as though it were tooled leather rather than hammered copper. A copper hanger is attached to the back of the plaque for easy wall installation. This hand hammered copper plaque features the famous "seed pod" design which was originally created by the Gustav Stickley (1858-1942) workshop. Stickley was recognized as an originator of American Craftsman style design. Famous for his quarter-sawn oak furniture, Stickley was also known for his metalwork designs. We made this hand hammered copper tray in 2014 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Cobre Copper. It was inspired by an Arts & Crafts tray we saw several years before and the artist did a beautiful rendition.
