Mission Style Hand-Hammered Copper Home Accents

Mission Style Design grew out of the early "mission" settlements in California, founded by Spanish Franciscan priests in the 18th and 19th century. As in the closely-related Arts-and-Crafts style, simplicity, functionality and sturdiness are hallmarks of mission style furniture and accessories. Stickley, Roycroft and others are well-known for their contributions to mission style.

The influence of Hispanic elements can be seen in mission style decorating. The warmth, textures and colors had great appeal to the Arts-and-Crafts movement of the 20th century. Hand-hammered copper, with its beautifully textured surfaces and rich colors, makes an excellent complement to mission decor.
